PIES WITH GREENS

Sweet pumpkin pie with walnuts, honey and sesame
Recipe ingredients
For the dough
- 1 kilo all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoon Greek extra virgin olive oil
For the stuffing
- 1 kilo rubbed yellow pumpkin
- 400gr. sugar
- 1 ½ tablespoon cinnamon
- 300gr. walnuts
- ½ wineglass Greek honey
Also
- ½ glass vegetable oil for the spreading of dough
- 1 tablespoon sesame
Recipe instructions
- Add all the ingredients for the dough in a cooking basin. Stir all the ingredients with a tablespoon.
- Pour slowly about 1 glass of warm water kneading all the time.
- Knead all the ingredients very well until you have a nice dough.
- Cut the dough in 8 equal pieces.
- Use a rolling pin to knead each piece like the photos.
- Squeeze the rubbed pumpkin with your hands in order to drain the excess water.
- In a small bowl stir the sugar with the cinnamon.
- Add the pumpkin and stir again.
- With the use of a cooking brush spread a baking pan with the vegetable oil. Place the first piece of dough in the baking pan.
- Spread more vegetable oil over the first piece and place a second piece of dough over the first. (Use vegetable oil for the second piece also.)
- Pour ½ of the filling in the baking pan (without the walnuts).
- Place 2 more pieces of dough in the baking pan. (Remember to use the vegetable oil)
- Now it is time to sprinkle the walnuts.
- Place 2 more pieces of dough in the baking pan. (Remember to use the vegetable oil)
- Pour the rest of the pumpkin in the baking pan.
- At the end place the last 2 pieces of dough in the baking pan. (Remember to use the vegetable oil)
- Sprinkle the pie with sesame.
- With the use of a knife engrave the pumpkin pie.
- Preheat the oven at 200 Celsius degrees and bake for about 45 minutes.
- After the baking pour the honey over the lines that we engrave with the knife.
- The sweet pumpkin pie is ready.
